About Us
South Florida Appeals, P.A., based in Miami, Florida, is a solo appellate practice headed by attorney Wm. Allen Bonner. Mr. Bonner handles appeals and assists lawyers with civil cases, including in the areas of personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, product defect, commercial contract, class action, and insurance. He is licensed to practice law in Florida, Georgia, and the District of Columbia.
Mr. Bonner was formerly a trial lawyer at the Miami Public Defender's Office, an associate at Ver Ploeg & Lumpkin (now Ver Ploeg & Marino), and a partner at Colson Hicks Eidson, where he led the firm's appellate division. Before becoming a lawyer, Mr. Bonner graduated from Brown University magna cum laude and from Columbia University’s School of Law as a Harlen Fisk Stone Scholar, Charles Evans Hughes Fellow, and Jacob Berger Fellow. He also studied at Oxford University, England.
Mr. Bonner was a five-time appointed Chair of the Miami-Dade Bar Association’s Appellate Courts Committee, serving from 2020 to 2025. He currently Co-Chairs the Florida Bar Appellate Practice CLE Committee, where he leads the Section's webinar programming. He is also Treasurer of the Third District Court of Appeal Historical Society.
Mr. Bonner has been published in the University of Miami Law Review, the ABA Appellate Practice Journal, and on the ABA’s “Sound Advice” podcast series, and he is a past recipient of the Miami-Dade Bar's Circle of Excellence for appellate practice and Over and Beyond award.
